MooBoo Home: Illuminating Sustainability in British Lighting Design

At MooBoo Home, we pride ourselves on being a British lighting company that not only creates stunning bespoke designs but also champions sustainability. By working with UK-based companies, sourcing local materials, and maintaining an eco-conscious ethos, we aim to craft beautiful lighting solutions that are kind to the planet.

Sourcing Locally: The Heart of Our Sustainability

Our journey towards sustainable lighting begins with the materials we use. Timber is a cornerstone of our designs, and we are committed to sourcing it as locally as possible. One of our proud partnerships is with Cockington Country Park, where our studio is located. We use branches and logs collected responsibly from this beautiful Devon country park. This approach not only reduces transportation emissions but also gives our pieces a story rooted in the local landscape.

When we venture beyond local sourcing, we often turn to reclaimed timber from around the world. However, nothing compares to the beauty and character of reclaimed English oak or elm. These timbers, steeped in history, add a unique charm to every piece we create.

For new materials, we ensure they come from UK-based suppliers who share our dedication to sustainability. This philosophy ensures that our designs are not only exceptional in quality but also align with our values.

Collaborating with Like-Minded Companies

To bring our designs to life, we partner with some of the finest UK-based manufacturers. Here are a few key collaborators:

Tala: Lighting Innovation with a Sustainable Edge

While all light bulbs we use are manufactured in China, we proudly partner with Tala, a UK company renowned for its commitment to sustainability and design excellence. Tala’s laboratory, located in London, is at the forefront of energy-efficient LED technology. By blending engineering and aesthetics, Tala creates bulbs that are both beautiful and environmentally friendly. Their ethos resonates with our own, making them an ideal partner for MooBoo Home.

S. Lilley & Son: A Legacy of Craftsmanship

For our lighting parts, we work with S. Lilley & Son, a Birmingham-based company with a rich history dating back to 1840. Over the decades, this family-run business has become a trusted name in the lighting industry, known for its precision engineering and high-quality components. By collaborating with S. Lilley & Son, we ensure that our lighting fixtures are built to last, embodying both durability and timeless design.

Flexform Cables Ltd: Northern Ireland’s Finest

Our cables are sourced from Flexform Cables Ltd, a company based in Northern Ireland. Known for their expertise in manufacturing premium-quality cables, Flexform plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our lighting designs. Their dedication to excellence aligns perfectly with our own high standards.

Reaching further afield

Italian Fabric-Covered Cables: Adding a Touch of Elegance

To offer our clients a broader palette of colours and styles, we also source fabric-covered cables from Italy. These cables allow us to incorporate vibrant designs and luxurious textures, giving our bespoke creations an added layer of sophistication.

Bespoke Designs Tailored to You

At MooBoo Home, every design is fully bespoke. We work closely with our clients to bring their vision to life, offering a choice of materials that reflect their personal style and values. From reclaimed timber to fabric-covered cables, every element is thoughtfully selected to create lighting that’s as unique as its owner.

Lighting the Way Forward

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for us—it’s a guiding principle. By collaborating with UK-based companies, sourcing materials responsibly, and crafting timeless designs, MooBoo Home is illuminating the path to a brighter, greener future. Whether it’s a rustic oak pendant light or a contemporary branch floor lamp, our creations are a testament to the beauty of sustainable design.
